Collabtive updates open source project management
If you're looking for a Web-based project management, Collabtive has released a new version of its open source application by the same name.
Collabtive 0.4.5 is a new release that brings a mix of new functionality, bugfixes and improvements, according to its parent, Open Dynamics Web Development, based in Germany.
Version 0.4.5 introduces vCard export for user profiles so users can easily import contact data into PIM software; improved user profiles which adds gender, postcode and URL; and time tracking for tasks which allows "timetracking" to be done for each task individually.
Collabtive is touted as Web-based "groupware" which can be used for project management as it tracks projects, milestones, task lists and tasks with time tracking, and has an integrated messaging system.
This release also brings improved reporting such that time tracker reporting can now be sorted by user, task and project, PDF reports are localized, tasks are shown in the reports, and the project log can be exported to Excel.
Collabtive 0.4.5 now allows an additional user role of "client" in which the user has read-only access to all objects on projects they are assigned to and cannot see internal messages.
Turkish and Japanese are now supported.
Collabtive is a PHP-MySQL application that uses JavaScript for an Ajax-like Web interface.
The application is licensed under the GPL and can be downloaded from Sourceforge.net.
