Funambol updates open source mobile software
Open source mobile e-mail and synchronization software vendor Funambol has released Funambol v7 of its server and client software.
Funambol v7 includes enhancements to the mobile clients, portal, server, software development kit, system management, and administration capabilities, according to the company.
Some new features are available in the open source Community Edition, while others are only available in the commercial Carrier Edition.
New features include open source software for BlackBerry push e-mail and PIM sync, an iPhone plug-in for contacts sync, and an enhanced Java ME push e-mail client.
Funambol CEO Fabrizio Capobianco said Funambol v7 reflects thousands of hours of inspired effort by the company's developers and the community to "make mobile open source better for everyone".
