Reef, an Internet software company, announced on 15 January the launch of Internetware 2.1. The upgrade to the Internetware e-business package is designed to support emerging Internet protocols like wireless access protocol (WAP), and to increase compatibility with prevalent e-business platforms, including Linux. The new features in Internetware 2.1 are aimed at enabling companies to deliver online commerce, content and transaction services to their employees, partners and customers on any Internet-enabled device. In Australia, familiar companies like NRMA and Holden are using Reef's software. Internetware 2.1's compatibility with Linux makes it easier for Web developers to integrate the Java-based Internetware into their e-business solutions. This feature, coupled with WAP support, significantly expands the range of applications that can be developed and deployed with Internetware. "Internetware 2.1 was designed as an open standards platform with cutting-edge technologies to help our customers and partners successfully execute their e-commerce strategies," said Philippe Brawerman, president, CEO and co-founder of Reef. "The sophistication of Version 2.1 reflects our vision of providing companies of all sizes with the tools they need to embrace technological change and remain competitive, whether they are small, cost-conscious Web site publishers, or Global 2000 companies." Features new to Internetware 2.1 include:
- improved directory structure and user profile registration
- more scalability
- upgraded content management
- enhanced data management
