UN-Funded manual aims to boost Linux in developing countries
The International Open Source Network (IOSN) has released a manual containing instructions on managing files, surfing the Internet, and creating documents in OpenOffice.
Its aim: to help promote the use of Linux on the desktop in countries that the UN-funded agency considers would be better off using Linux than more expensive proprietary OSes.
The manual will be available in print form with a Linux Live CD, based on the Fedora distribution of Linux. That means it can be run on any PC.
The manual, which is currently available in OpenOffice and PDF formats, has been released under the Creative Commons License.
