Those in search of eternal life need look no further than the computer industry. At the LinuxWorld show in San Francisco on Monday, the company began discussing a new platform it's developing to offer customers a centralised management system for disparate applications running across an enterprise grid.

An updated version of the XML specification for Analysis (XMLA) is available, Microsoft Corp., Hyperion Solutions Corp., and SAS Institute Inc. said Thursday.
